Honoring Faith and Justice: Interfaith Center of New York (ICNY) Interfaith Awards

On June 10, 2024, the Interfaith Center of New York was proud to offer the James Parks Morton Interfaith Award to Singer, Songwriter, and Social Activist Judy Collins and His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros of America, Most Honorable Exarch of the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans.

Our 240+ guests included Michael Psaros, the Chairman of Friends of St. Nicholas, who presented the award to His Eminence. Ms. Collins’s award was presented virtually by American Singer-Songwriter Suzanne Vega.

Joining us to accept a Faith Justice Hero Award were Salim Drammeh from the Gambian Youth Organization and Judith B. Bass on behalf of the Synagogue Coalition on the Refugee and Immigration Crisis.

Prayers were offered by the Bishop Suffragan of the Episcopal Diocese of New York The Rt. Rev. Allen Shin, ICNY’s own Hanadi Doleh, ICNY Board Member and President of the NYC Board of Rabbis Rabbi Joseph Potasnik, Abbot of Staten Island Buddhist Vihara Bhante Kondañña, Activist Dalveer Hargobind Kaur, and Friend John Choe, President Of the Flushing Interfaith Council and a recent fellow of ICNY’s Interfaith Civic Leadership Academy.

Speakers included ICNY Board Members Ruth Messinger and Bishop Mary D. Glasspool, ICNY’s Associate Director for Migrant Outreach Brennan Brink, and Imam Ammar Abdul Rahman.
